Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the group reach locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.
Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
