Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the event," they added.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for details.
A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism left him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
